WMDP’s win at Carver Cranberry Road Race Vacated on Technicality

Carver, MA – Headed by USATFNE Grand Prix points leader Kevin Johnson, the WMDP took 1st for the 2nd consecutive Grand Prix race with a cummulative time of 2:05:10.  Kevin claimed 3rd overall, completing the 5 miler course in  24:25.  However, the win was vacated after the WMDP’s second finisher, Sean Duncan (24:50), was declared inelligble for trading his WMDP-issued singlet for tattoos.  Luckily, the teams depth came through, as Dave Johnson (25:06) was closely behind.  He was followed by Jayson Ayr (25:15), Scott Vandermolen (25:32), and Jesse Regnier (25:38).  As a result of Sean Duncan being disqualified, the WMDP’s overall time rose to 2:05:48, which allowed a loaded BAA squad to squeak by with a 13 second victory.

When ask for comment on his disqualification, Sean Duncan responded, “Whatever, bro.  I know we won.  If we didn’t win then Reggie Bush never [expletive] won a Heisman Trophy.”  Team leader Kevin Johnson had a more measured response, “Rules are there for a reason.  If we gained an unfair advantage because Sean got free tattoos, it wouldn’t be right to claim victory.”

Also, making their debut today was the WMDP Women.  Laura Hutchinson lead the way with a time of 31:23.
