Bio:
Robert Deegan III (RD3) was brought up in the deep South of New Orleans, LA for most of his formative years. At 9 years old his was involved in a tragic tricycle accident that left him horribly disfigured. This provided the impetus for his family to move back to their native Massachusetts, more specifically the Boston area. During his recuperation period, Robert developed an abnormal obsession with animals that led to his choice to eventually pursue Animal Science* at UMass. (*When Robert found out how tough the major was he switched to a degree in Physics.)
After a mediocre high school career, Deegan decided to take training seriously. When Deegan wasn’t running or telling people he was a Physics major he spent his spare time at UMass petting animals.He logged the miles and got dropped like a hot potato in workouts, but he held on to get better and be selected to the varsity squad. Eventually, he became a key member on one of the deepest UMass cross country teams in over 25 years.
Post-grad Deegan spends has spent time dog-sitting at various locations in WMass and across the state. To supplement his income Deegan also works as a tea expert at a local Teavana just outside the WMass boundaries. Next year he will join fellow teammate David Johnson in Madison, WI to pursue a degree he has a lot of ‘passion’ for, Vet Medicine.
